Originally hailing from Lincolnshire, Troy Faid now travels and performs regularly at festivals & gig venue’s throughout the UK. His fingerstyle guitar blends Ragtime, Jazz, Folk, Blues and much in between, together with an earlyold voice this communicate a desirous music - appreciated by many and influenced by a myriad of musicians and thinkers: from Django Reinhardt to John Fahey...
Terrence Mckenna to Erich Fromm.
The BBC's Tom Robinson recently recognised Faid as a “stunning guitarist and songwriter” and he’s been otherwise described as ‘a cat on fire, bristling with leashed passionate blues and folk’ - often likened to an unusual mix of artists; John Martyn, Billy Bragg and Bert Jansch. His songs, beautiful in conception and poignantly eloquent in performance, have been characterised as ‘decidedly English, wistful and modern troubadourish’ refrains, reminiscent of a time now lost.’
This year sees Troy taking to the road with a new band, comprised of the virtuoso double bass playing of Michael Bardon & the infectious, diverse rhythms of Patrick Bannon. Together, the band lift the dynamics of the music greatly, creating a masterful & unique live sound.
Troy's two albums thus far, 'Last Week's Tune' (2009) and 'Solus' (2011) are available for purchase from all major online digital retailers and www.troyfaid.co.uk/shop
